details on blurry photographs do you still remember when you told me “I won’t want you most of the time” but it lingers and lingers all inside me maybe I might have imagined everything I don’t know what I’m here for falling backwards when I’m with you chasing nothing but I follow through feeling nothing and everything all at the same time I try not to walk on your street but the city is small and so are the chances of unlearning you but when you ask me if I’m home or where I am the street lights go dark but I’m already on the way to meet you

moving with the corners of your mouth a follow-through affirming you’ve got it all figured out blushing like sundown sky in the middle of springtime a blanket keeping warm those tired eyes away is where they take me please say; say you don’t notice how I fixate my eyes on them say; say you’ll share with me your peaches and cream drowning in your memory pool is it another story? I’m willing to hear it whistling the song stuck in your head funny I listened to the same thing last night oh my, my, my

overcast days, you say, they invite you to revisit the pictures somewhat blurry yet you speak so certain of awoke in a haze, still somehow you get out of bed with no confusion or regret I envy your vivid memory delicately laced with sobriety walking lightly one day probably i'd find the pieces that make up my now how can you trace; been a while since you first held it in your hand trying to follow careless circles just yesterday I saw you in rehearsal dazzled eyes without a sense of time lose control breathe out fleeting phrases one last moonshine je dis ça, je dis rien

about

Don’t be fooled by the gentleness of Treehouse. Its calm startles. It is a revelation of the skies after driving through a long tunnel: heady and light, the air from the rolled-down windows whipping against your face.

A mental picture: you and I, in a constant tiptoe between familiarity and longing. Treehouse reminds me of that in-between. The two of us, struggling: do we go to the grocery store, where we are home, or do we walk into that strange corner shop where they sell antiques? Some days, home wins. But most days, we enter the antiques and just look. Looking is enough.

Some notes jump out, others wait. But the melody is always there, tapping your shoulder. It’s time to wake up, it says. It’s time to go home. The furniture may be reshuffled. There might be a broken vase somewhere, or peeling paint. But the rug at the front door remains, saying welcome back.
